MTN Uganda Hands Over Innovation Hub to Kabale University
The telecom company’s foundation partnered with government and technology firms to open a facility aimed at boosting digital skills and entrepreneurship in western Uganda.
MTN Uganda has transferred ownership of a new regional innovation hub to Kabale University in southwestern Uganda.
The facility was developed through the MTN Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and Centenary Technology Services. The handover forms part of broader efforts to expand digital skills and support entrepreneurship among young Ugandans.
Kabale University, a public institution serving the Kigezi sub-region, will now manage the hub. The centre is expected to serve students and local youth by providing resources for technology training, innovation projects and business incubation.
Uganda has seen a growing emphasis on digital transformation in recent years, with both public and private entities investing in infrastructure outside the capital Kampala. Regional universities such as Kabale play an increasingly important role in delivering skills to populations far from major urban centres.
