Afreximbank raises 1.5 billion dollars in record Eurobond sale
The pan-African trade finance institution completed its largest dual-tranche bond offering, returning to international capital markets after an absence of several years.

The African Export-Import Bank has raised 1.5 billion US dollars through its largest-ever dual-tranche senior unsecured Eurobond issuance.
The transaction marks the bank's return to the Eurobond market. Afreximbank, which supports trade and economic development across the African continent, priced the offering in two parts to attract a broad range of international investors.
According to The Herald Zimbabwe, the deal represents a significant increase over the bank's previous bond issuances. The funds will bolster the institution's capacity to finance intra-African trade and support member countries facing external economic pressures.
Afreximbank was established in 1993 to fill gaps in trade financing on the continent. It provides loans, guarantees and other financial instruments to governments, banks and private companies engaged in cross-border commerce.
The African Export-Import Bank has raised 1.5 billion US dollars through its largest-ever dual-tranche senior unsecured Eurobond issuance.
The Eurobond market has become an important funding source for African multilateral institutions and governments seeking longer-term capital in foreign currency. Dual-tranche structures allow issuers to offer different maturities and yields within a single transaction, appealing to both conservative and higher-yielding investors.
The successful pricing comes as many African economies continue to manage the effects of global interest rate changes and commodity price fluctuations. Access to international capital on competitive terms remains a priority for institutions promoting regional integration and economic resilience.
This issuance underscores growing confidence among global investors in well-established African financial institutions with strong credit profiles and clear mandates to advance continental trade objectives. The bank has not disclosed further details on the specific terms or investor distribution at this stage.
