Binance expands mobile money crypto trading in three African countries
Users in Cameroon, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo can now purchase and sell cryptocurrency directly through mobile money accounts via Binance’s One Click Buy and Sell feature.

Binance has extended its One Click Buy and Sell service to users in Cameroon, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, enabling them to trade cryptocurrency using local mobile money payments.
The development follows the August 2024 launch of the same feature in Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The service forms part of Binance’s global fiat on-ramp and off-ramp offerings, designed to simplify the process of moving between traditional currencies and digital assets.
Mobile money has become a primary means of financial transaction across much of sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in countries where formal banking penetration remains relatively low. In Cameroon, Togo and the DRC, millions rely on services such as MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money and Airtel Money for everyday transfers and payments.
The expansion gives users in these three countries the ability to buy crypto assets without first converting mobile money into bank deposits or using international cards. It also allows direct sales of crypto back into mobile wallets.
Binance has extended its One Click Buy and Sell service to users in Cameroon, Togo and the Democratic Republic of Congo, enabling them to trade cryptocurrency using local mobile money payments.
According to Techpoint Africa, the One Click Buy and Sell function aims to reduce friction in crypto adoption by integrating directly with widely used mobile financial platforms. This integration is especially relevant in markets where smartphone usage is rising but access to traditional financial infrastructure can be limited.
The DRC, Cameroon and Togo each present distinct regulatory environments for digital assets. The Democratic Republic of Congo has seen growing interest in cryptocurrency amid challenges with its local currency and banking system, while Cameroon and Togo maintain active fintech scenes supported by regional telecom operators.
By broadening access to this service, Binance continues its push to increase crypto usability across Africa through familiar payment methods. The company did not disclose exact transaction volumes or user uptake figures for the newly added countries.
The feature’s rollout reflects broader trends of digital finance innovation on the continent, where mobile technology has leapfrogged traditional banking in many areas. Further expansions to additional African markets may follow if adoption mirrors the earlier wave in East and Southern Africa.
